[Map] Prometheus Zero

Three years ago a private mining survey crew, working under a contract for the Corporation, found a cavity inside an asteroid in the asteroid belt. The cavity was found in initial density scans because of its unusually symmetrical shape surrounded by a layer of high-density silicates. The scan data was sent to the contractor, and the Corporation immediately claimed over the mining operations. Radio contact with the mining vessel was lost soon after the data was received.

For unknown reasons, the contracted mining crew decided to initiate excavations, before the Corporation vessel arrived. The mining crew bore a tunnel through the asteroid, reaching the cavity in a matter of days. According to the biometrics and sensor recordings salvaged from the remains of the mining ship and the crew’s skinsuits, the crew had built a temporary airlock inside the asteroid and breached the cavity just hours before the Corporation vessel arrived on site.

It was immediately obvious that something was wrong and a hazard control unit consisting of four military-grade hybrids and a synthetic was sent to secure the area. The site was secured and contained, but with heavy casualties. The operation was successful thanks to the support of the ship’s AI and the synthetic crew member, who seemed to be immune to the psychogenic effects of the organism, later designated as Echidna, found inside the asteroid.

[Map] Science Outpost

Here’s another science/ research station which is based on the science outpost seen in Rogue One. This does not try to be an exact copy of it, but I imagined a science outpost located on a remote system with really terrible weather conditions ūüėÄ

The station has a single landing pad protruding from a rocky cliff and the outpost is built inside the mountain wall. Below the platform there waves are hitting the rocky shore hard  (or perhaps its a river of lava?).

In the reaserch section of this outpost I tried to draw something that looks like cloning vats or containers holding alien lifeforms. Maybe something has gotten loose on the station and the PCs are sent to investigate what has happened. Or maybe they are sent to rescue a scientist who’s being kept on the station against their will?

[Map] A.I. Research Station

The premise for this map was an A.I. core, but that actually reminded me of a setting backstory of my upcoming military scifi RPG Sotakarjut (Warhogs) where the first truly self-aware artificial intelligence was developed in a research station hidden inside an asteroid. So, I drew inspiration from that idea and decided to draw this map.

The station comes with two levels, the main level has the crew quarters and a big operations center. the lower (or upper) level has the mainframe, engineering, life support and the AI core rooms.

I hope you like this.

[Map] Beacon Station

The groundwork for this map was done as a #mapvember map, but I wanted to finalize it by adding some details and proper annotations.

The initial theme was a beacon station that would work as a hyperspace beacon and space traffic control station, but I think this could also work as a listening station, communications link station, scientific observation station or even the pressurized interior of a space ship (with out the engines part).

I hope you find use for this or get inspired by it.

[Map] The Osiris Station

032_osiris_station-web

I’m reading The Expanse book series by James S.A. Corey, and while reading the second book I had an inspiration to draw a small space station with a hangar bay and facilities for a small research crew and a security team. Of course, I could not resist to draw some interesting details, like a collapsed lab section, on the map. ¬†
